Much like the fall of the Roman Empire, Hollywood is corroding from the inside. Creativity and innovation have been replaced by making a quick buck through media recycling: remakes, sequels, reboots, and prequels.

“The media in general, and TV in particular…are incomparably the greatest single influence in our society today, exerted at all social, economic and cultural levels. This influence is, I should add, is, in my opinion, largely exerted irresponsibly, arbitrarily, and without reference to any moral or intellectual, still less spiritual, guidelines whatsoever.” – Malcolm Muggeridge, Christ and the Media

As is the premise of my upcoming book, “Cinematic Imperative”, it is time for the people of God, the followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, to band together and build a media production juggernaut that presents truth and reality for a Biblical worldview. Rogue Marble is our new foundation (still in development) which is dedicated to the premise of global collaboration, not competition. We no longer need the television networks or Hollywood studios to reach the masses. In fact, due to the digital revolution, they are already substantially irrelevant to the younger generations.

Cinematic Imperative: A Christian Filmmaker Manifesto

“IF JESUS WERE ON EARTH TODAY, HE’D BE MAKING MOVIES! It’s time to communicate a Biblical worldview through the most powerful mediums, film & TV. We must leave behind the milk-toast, alter call formulaic ‘Christian films’ and powerfully engaging with films that are real, engaging, gritty, heart-stopping, hilarious, genuine, heart-wrenching, biting, inspiring, challenging and poignant. Holding nothing back, it is time to take culture head on through media!”

Launching 2019

Rogue Marble’s motto is “Soli Deo Gloria”. Latin for glory to God alone. We are called, as disciples of Jesus Christ, to serve an audience of One. “Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men….” (Colossians 3:23) This must have a tremendous bearing on the projects selected, methods employed, human relationship, not to mention affecting each person’s motivations for pursuing ministry in film in the first place.

“God’s marvelous Church has become culturally irrelevant and even distant from its prime purpose of knowing Him, growing in Him, and worshipping Him by making disciples! This is evidenced by what is going on in our culture and in our church.” – The Schaeffer Institute

If you find yourself likeminded, we should talk more. The more outrageous this proposition sounds, the more on track I know it to be.

“You look at the parable of the talents: God wants us to take our talents and increase them and make good on the investment He has made in us, and I take that very seriously.” – David Oyelowo (Film Star)
